"Journaling is therapy"
Ever had the itch to write in your notebook but have no idea where to start?
Drained from writing about your day and how you feel?
I think it's time to try some journal prompts to help you reconnect with the love of writing for pleasure.
1) Describe your dream vacation
An instantly feel good prompt - describing your dream holiday will not only benefit you by creating a goal to work towards but also helps you imagine yourself in a 'happy place'.
2) Earliest childhood memory (good or bad)
Your earliest memories can open up a lot of interesting things about yourself that you may not have noticed before. Whether good or bad, our life experiences make us who we are today. Writing what you remember in your private journal may help you to feel a sense of relief that you have overcome negative events. On the other hand if those memories are good it can assist you to realize what makes you happy and how you can achieve that again.
3) The world is ending in 24 hours. What would you do in your final moments?
At times life can become so heavy we often lose sight of what really matters. This prompt, although scary, may very well allow you to open up and record what it is that really matters to you. For example you may wish to be surrounded by family members so you can share the remaining precious moments of life together. However in reality it may be that you have not seen or heard from these loved ones in a very long time as you've been so busy with work and life- not giving you a chance to be in the moment. Thinking about your final moments can lead to a deeper understanding of self and being more aware of what is the purpose of life.
I hope you have found some of these tips for journaling and keeping a diary useful. If you ever get a chance to use them be sure to let me know in the comments how they have helped you.
Maybe you have some journal tips of your own that you would like to share with future readers.
Happy Writing!

I’ve been using a Stálogy notebook as a planner on and off since 2019. My first time was with an A6 size 365 days version which I loved but only stuck with for a few months. At this time I was just using it for daily to do lists and a bit of budgeting.
The second time in October 2021 we were just coming into the new school year and I had finished using the Mark’s Tokyo edge B6 Day planner for homeschooling but wanted a change. I decided to try a B6 365 Stálogy notebook and haven’t looked back since!
The most crucial aspect of a good planner for me is something that is simple yet versatile. I have been following a lazy bullet journal style which allows me to keep productive but also have fun with experimenting with pretty dashboards and stickers for decoration.
The Stálogy notebook for me was a perfect, clear canvas where I could record important plans whilst being creative and probably the number one reason why I have been using it for so many years without becoming fatigued.
I currently use a 365 day B6 stalogy – Grid paper as a homeschool planner with the following sections tabbed:
So now you know how I’ve been utilizing the Stálogy notebook as a planner here are 5 main reasons why I love it so much.
1) Paper Quality
The quality of the paper is second to none in my opinion. It is thin like the reputable Tomoe river paper yet has a more soft rather than silky texture which absorbs ink really quickly (no smudging- Yay!). The lightweight paper structure allows for a very satisfying ‘crinkle’ effect when the pages are written on and turned.
The printed lines in the grid and dotted notebooks are a very feint grey. This allows you to follow them as a guide to keep your handwriting straight without being obtrusive.
Another superior quality of the paper is that it is fountain pen friendly as ink does not feather or bleed through. There may be slight shadowing but it does not disturb the alternate page too much.
2) Various Sizes offered
Another reason why I love the brand so much is because of the large selection of sizes offered.
Both the ½ year (192 pages) and the 365 days version (368 pages) are available in 4 popular sizes:
Having the option to have multiple sizes allows for growth as life changes. For example an a6 version may be good for quick daily lists you want to keep track of but would be too small to use as a work planner. Having the luxury of still being able to enjoy the lovely qualities of the paper in different sizes is another major reason why I am very fond of the brand.
3) Durability
The notebook is incredibly sturdy and has a beautiful, soft faux leather cover which keeps the pages safe but also allows the pages to stay flat when writing. I personally have added 30+ vellum/ acetate decorative and functional dashboards using tape and have had no problems with the binding becoming weak or pages becoming loose. The overall binding of the books are with a strong adhesive which makes them very much worth the extra money when compared to a regular notebook. It is very much built to last and ready to store memories you can look back on for many years to come.
4) Good Price Point
In my opinion, the notebooks are very reasonably priced. The smallest (a6 size) is around £25 or $33.80 and the largest (b5 size) is £32 or $43.27. They are not the cheapest blank notebooks on the market but considering how long it could last along with the great quality it really is a ‘must try’ if you are a paper enthusiast like myself.
5) White Pages
Compared to the Hobonichi or Midori planners which are a cream colour – the Stálogy notebook pages are brilliant white. This makes It more aesthetically pleasing when adding décor.
Overall I am completely in planner peace with using the Stálogy as a main planner. My only very small wish is that the limited edition covers were available for b6 as well.
What do you think about the Stálogy notebooks? Have you tried them before? What’s your favorite thing about using them for planning? If you could change anything, what would it be?
Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below and I hope you have found this entry useful and informative.

Tomoe river paper is a specialty paper loved by many fountain pen enthusiasts all over the world for its lightweight structure and ability to handle a variety of ink and paints very well.
Rumours of the paper no longer being made were started when Tomoegawa (the creators) announced in December 2019 that they had officially ended production of the paper at the old machinery.
A few months later they released a statement to their followers that the paper will be slightly different but promised it would have the same high performance as the original paper. However reviews of the new paper were mixed with some customers complaining that the new paper did not handle bleed through as well as being a lot rougher in texture.
Finally in September 2020 Tomoegawa made public that a limited edition version namely the ‘new machine papers’ were to be released. As of today nothing else has been officially released from the company leading to many panic buying the paper in fear that no more will be produced.
Timeline of events
December 2019 – Tomoegawa ended production at the old machinery.
April 2020 - New version of the paper being produced. Same properties being promised – some customers not happy about the change.
September 2020 – limited edition papers promised and no other ‘official’ news since then.
Here’s where it gets juicy
Among the fountain pen community there has been rumours that Tomoe river paper is in fact NOT being discontinued but just outsourced to a different company. It is said that the company is studying to continue supplying the speciality paper just under a new operation.
What does this mean for you?
Although there is promise of the paper still being produced it still very speculative and indeed the production could be halted altogether if an alternative method of making the paper is not found. It may be sad or even quite frustrating to a lot of Tomoe River fans who have throughout the years grown accustomed to using the paper in their journals or planners but all the better to start exploring alternatives.
Below I have compiled an extensive list of recommended papers/ notebooks that use paper which is fountain pen friendly. I have been careful to only recommend products that are readily available and so it does not include many but is a good starting point if you are interested in trying something new.
*Exciting news… We will soon be stocking some of the lovely brands of notebooks mentioned so make sure you are signed up to our newsletter so you don’t miss out!*
The MD paper is renowned in the fountain pen community for being ink friendly. It has a soft to touch, lightweight texture yet is thick enough to take the ink of a fountain pen and have minimal bleed through. The MD paper's smooth pages with it's delicate cream hue and well crafted spine (allowing the pages to lay flat) make it a great notebook to try next.

Hailed to be a close contender in similarity to Tomoe River this paper is said to be ideal for fountain pen colour ink shading and sheening but has a longer dry time. The Cosmo air light paper is said to be excellent for printing and the texture is not excessively smooth providing a pleasant writing experience.

These booklets come as a set of 3. The paper used is lightweight yet high quality at 90 gsm thick which make them perfect for fountain pens as there is no feathering or bleed through.

It is also worth noting that these booklets come with 192 pages in each making them good value for money as well being available in a choice of 10 beautiful colours.
(Currently available in A5 and A4 size)
The paper in these notebooks have a slightly heavier gsm than Tomoe River, is not as smooth but is still lightweight and very good at handling a variety of inks and paints. Loved for its lovely feint grid lines which provides a nice canvas for bullet journaling the company are also releasing blank and dotted versions this year.
(Currently available in B6, A5, A6 and A4 size)

The Premium 32lb/ 120 gsm option is a lovely heavyweight paper that is bright white in colour, has a super smooth surface and is acid free which prevents yellowing of the pages over time. Great option if you just want sheets of paper for handwriting practice with your fountain pens or you could add these to a ring binder to make them portable.

Hey there and welcome!
I woke up way too early this Sunday morning and thought I would share what I plan on using for the new year!
Main purpose for each planner
* B6 Stalogy- Homeschool Planner
* A6 Stalogy- Notes/ Journaling/ Brain dump
* Personal Rings- Work
I would never think when I joined the planner community back in 2016 that I would be using multiple planners at one time but here we are... and I love it!
Deco?
(Vellum, Acetate, Journaling cards, Vinyl decals)
Yes, yes and yes!
Structured Layout?
(Daily, Monthly, Weekly etc)
Monthly printed out for appointments and important dates regarding home life. I will also use written daily layouts in a sort of bullet journal style to document homeschool activities.
Used daily?
Only Monday- Friday!
Stickers & washi?
Why not? Will serve as a memory planner for my daughter to look back on so decorating will only make it more fun.
Deco?
(Vellum, Acetate, Journaling cards, Vinyl decals)
Yes, yes and yes! but would probably be less than my b6 stalogy though.
Structured Layout?
(Daily, Monthly, Weekly etc)
All of these plus a payment checklist insert to keep track of bills and maybe a habit tracker if I am in the mood.
Used daily?
Most definitely.
Stickers & washi?
Just pen going forward but occasionally I just might!
Deco?
(Vellum, Acetate, Journaling cards, Vinyl decals)
Just pen excluding the bits of decoration I added to it last year when I was using it as my main planner.
Structured Layout?
(Daily, Monthly, Weekly etc)
None!
Used daily?
Only when needed- writing blog posts, revising for exams or just as a brain dump.
Stickers & washi?
None!
Hope you enjoyed reading my mini walk through of how i will be using my planners for the new year.
Have you decided what you will use for 2021? Maybe you won't be planning but just using what you have to do creative journaling instead? I would love to read about your plans so we can inspire each other. Make sure to leave them in the comments below.
Thank you for stopping by!

The Moterm Brand of leather planner covers have been around for some time now, available at a more affordable price, yet still pretty great quality!
Currently they can be purchased on Ali Express or Amazon USA.
I only recently had the pleasure of purchasing a few covers over the past few months and thought i'd share what I love about them!
♡ Affordable Price
You can own one for as little as $29 for a Pocket/ A7 size cover which is pretty decent considering similar leather planners with as many variations and quality can set you back over $200.
I've purchased more expensive covers in the past and always had a fear to carry them with me on errands as I was very aware of how much I paid. This fear in a way led me to not use the planner for it's function- to stay organized.
Ofcourse as you are paying a lot less you can't expect the quality to be top notch. So far i've only found minor errors like gapping of the rings and the overall 'feel' of the planner can be slightly less luxurious so would need to keep this in mind before purchasing.
If anything it is a fantastic way to test out a planner size or variation before spending a good amount on a more luxury brand.
♡ Good amount of features
The planners are available in many different colours and styles which is perfect if you are a collector or like to change up your style often. As well as ringed planners they also have leather covers to fit a variety of notebooks like Stalogy, Marks Edit, Wonderland 222, Hobonichi weeks, Hobonichi Techo, Zequens and Moleskine to name a few.
♡ All the little details
* Full length Pockets attached to the back - great for storing receipts, bills or even stickers!
* Zip compartment to hold loose change - excellent if you are looking to use your planner as a wallet.
* A Leather FlyLeaf - with pockets for credit cards etc.
* Manyyyyy Secretarial pockets! - added bonus if you like to decorate your planner or even to hide notes away.
* 25mm Rings - I've been able to stuff quite alot in my planners with room to spare but they are pretty easy to take out and change to larger rings if necessary.
* Large leather pen loop
* 'Floppy' enough to stay flat when writing
* Includes a pack of undated inserts - so you can start planning right away!
* Nice Leather smell
* Attention to detail - all stiching was very neat
The only downside when thinking about features is that you can not customise the planners (e.g adding stiffener, widening or shortening the planner size) as they are ready made but would be nice to see if they offer this option in the future!
♡ Well made
The Moterm's I currently own have all been used very well and not a stich is out of place. They also did not have any chemical smell which is a bonus as that can be a real turn off no matter how pretty the planner looks.
In a nutshell the Moterm planners, in my opinion, are excellent value for money and a definite must have in your collection. I am very content and excited to try out some of the more recent product lines they have released such as the Luxe and Versa. The newer additions also have a little logo stiched inside which adds a nice professional touch to the planners as they are becoming more main stream.
What are your thoughts? Do you already own a Moterm planner? Are you thinking of purchasing one in the future? Did you have one and not like it?
I would love to know how you feel about Moterm planners in the comment section below.

Whether you use your planner to run your own business or keep track of goals, you may suddenly hit a point *like myself* where you have all the tools to be productive but each day your list of things to do are getting longer - throwing your anxiety levels through the roof!
These 3 easy to follow tips are an easy step towards crushing your goals and being the most productive version of you.
Yes it’s hard but one of the most distracting things in the 21st century is our over consumption of social media and the net in general. Scrolling through Instagram may seem like a quick break away from reality but actually disturbs your productive train of thought.
Try your best to create periods of the day where you are ‘offline’ and solely focusing on the tasks that are most important to making your day a successful one.
The satisfaction of crossing a task off a list is really, really good. I never plan without some kind of list that I can tick or cross off just for that feeling of accomplishment.
One way you can do this is by making a header of the overall goal you have and then writing bite size tasks below it.
Maybe you’ve tried step 1 & 2 with no luck and I think I know why. Without pressure it is very unlikely that you will be motivated enough to keep on track. Instead procrastination wins as you will keep putting things off until tomorrow and that tomorrow never comes.
For example if you run a business from home try to set a time for yourself when you work. I’ve been trying this technique out lately with really excellent results! Not only do I stick to my plans more than ever before but it also stops me from over working and missing out on precious time with loved ones.
I hope some of these tips help you when planning your day and remember the main goal to success is perseverance. If something fails to work for you now never be afraid to try, try and try again.
Feel free to share a tip below that helps YOU stay productive 💜

Last year I purchased my first Hobonichi Techo to use as a journal and have been loving it since!
Fast forward a few months and the new craze within the Planner community was the Stalogy brand. Cheaper, versatile and also available in a6 like the Hobonichi Techo.
I now use both and couldn’t be more happier in terms of my everyday tools to keep me from procrastinating and staying organized!
Ever wondered what journal would better suit your needs? Maybe you already use a Hobonichi Techo and would like to try its rival for next year? Let’s jump right in!
❤ Real Tomoe River Paper
Beautiful lightweight paper renowned for its ability to resist bleed through when used with a variety of inks and paints.
❤ Dated
Holds you to account and makes you more likely to keep journaling or planning (however sometimes this can be the opposite for some)
❤ Grid Lines Slightly darker
❤ Quote on each spread
❤ Yearly overview & two different types of Monthly Calendars
❤ Smudging of ink!
A lot of gel pens or any pen that does not dry fast may leave your pages smudged and ruined.
❤ No week overview
It really is great as a daily planner for to do lists or just journaling about your day but if you like to plan out our week on one page this may not work for you.
PROS
❤ More affordable compared to the Hobonichi
❤ Undated
This is great as you can have fun experimenting with different styles of planning without feeling tied down to only one system.
❤ More space
Due to lack of dates, quotes and calendars like the Hobonichi Techo there is more room to write freely.
❤ Not Tomoe River paper
No smudging! Yay! The paper is thicker but still of a very good quality.
❤ No Page Numbers
❤ Blank Canvass
A bit daunting as you have to use it as more of a bullet journal style for planning but once you find layouts that you like it really is love!
What do you love about the Hobonichi/Stalogy?

Let’s be honest. Having your day all planned out won’t guarantee it will be productive but it can help you stay focused.
Some may say life is so unpredictable. Why not take it as it comes? What is the point of stressing about tomorrow when you haven’t lived for today?
In one way I would 100% agree. Being too rigid with your plans can bring about weaknesses. Some of these may be feeling like a failure when you haven’t ticked all the boxes of your habit tracker. Or even wanting to throw the entire planner away when you notice everyone on Instagram using the latest in thing!
But back to the question. Is a daily routine needed?
I would say Yes! Yes! Yes! It allows you to prioritize the most important tasks to reach your goals. Sticking to a daily routine wards of being overwhelmed as you slowly get through the things that needs to get done.
Personally my daily routine Is pretty much the same with the craziness of raising two babies as well as keeping on top of work for my small business.
Needless to say juggling between both can be one heck of a challenge at times but I definitely do notice my day is more productive when I have ‘planned’ (which admittedly is sometimes just a long to do list on a scrap piece of paper).
One key thing I have found is that being too rigid with what you want to accomplish can be very negative.
Lately I have been keeping away from marking a task as incomplete. Instead I have been drawing a tiny forward arrow to indicate that it can be done another day.
By doing this instead of being annoyed that I failed at keeping to my goals it reminds me to think positively. I may not have done every single thing but at least I have noted it down to be done another day.
Saying that, sometimes the things I do write in my daily plans forces me to procrastinate as it is too complicated.
Try to set yourself mini goals. Instead of writing declutter office try writing smaller tasks. For example you might note down that you want to shred all documents today and then take pictures of un-used planners to sell tomorrow.
Both tasks are simple yet collectively help making your space less cluttered which was the initial goal.
Having a daily routine has many benefits when flexible and simple enough that you can realistically get things done without burning out.
What are your thoughts? Do you have any tips for someone wanting to be more organized? What have you learnt from your planning journey so far?
]]>Tracking how you feel is so very important in becoming a happier version of you and here’s why.
It is often said that no one knows yourself better than you but is this true for all of us? Ask any loved one what makes you most happy and they will probably have a different answer to what you thought.
This is because the people around you learn through your behaviour what makes you most happy or depressed. We are all guilty of neglecting ourselves in one way or another so being able to set aside a few moments to self-reflect is vital for a healthier mind.
Keeping tabs on how you are feeling and why can help to identify the cause of what makes or breaks your day. You may find that you are still stressed on your days off and not realize it is because you are not spending your free time doing things that make you truly happy.
From a personal viewpoint I can say that I very much look forward to those few precious hours when my kids are asleep to have some ‘me time’. However on occasions when I waste this precious time binge watching Youtube Videos or Netflix shows I often feel more stressed afterwards.
I believe everyone’s optimum mood on the road to becoming happier is how productive they are with their time. For me that productivity may be working on a project for an upcoming deadline or as trivial as organizing my closet!
It’s a beautiful thing to release your emotions into words. To really take the time to analyse your feelings so you can become comfortable, confident and wholeheartedly content in who you are right now. Think of it as a form of self-therapy. You are tackling personal demons as well as congratulating yourself on positive milestones on the journey to becoming a better you.
Let’s say you stuck at the mood tracking system for a month or even just a week. How many hidden gems about yourself are waiting to be discovered? Following the system is so easy yet has the ability to really tackle some deep rooted issues that you may be unknowingly neglecting.
For instance a person who over eats when they are stressed may find that the cause was their job not being stimulating enough. Suddenly having following the system they see a strong pattern of low days being directly caused by issues at work. This person is now able to take the steps to being happier by looking for a change in career.
In a nutshell being aware of your feelings and emotions can only be positive. It allows you to work on and improve your life for the better one stroke of a pen at a time. Do you currently track your moods? How has it been working for you? Feel free to share your experiences for others to learn from in the comments below.
Begin your journey today with your personal mood tracking system or journal today!

Are you a die- hard Ringed planner girl? Or maybe you prefer the little books housed in Leather? Better than that, you may be, like me, a lover of both!
This short post briefly touches on the virtues and shortcomings of the latest craze in the way that people choose to plan & journal that seem to be driving paper lovers torn!
What I love about my TN:
❤ It makes the perfect carrier for multiple hobbies!
The ability to stuff your leather journal with multiple different books each dedicated to a specific hobby is what sold me into trying it. You can literally house your hand lettering practice alongside a Tomoe river paper journal for deep thoughts or even a notebook solely dedicated to your meal plans for the week! A ringed planner often struggles with the amount of paper you can add and so limits its versatility. Overall the possibilities of using a TN is vast and one reason why I would be hard pressed to ever let it go.
What I love about my Ringed Planner:
❤ More portable
Personally I find it really hard to take my TN out and about with me in fear of losing all the beautiful memories it contains as I use it to journal more than anything else. It also feels a bit fiddly to be searching through when you just need something quickly. That’s why my Ringed planner is perfect for everyday planning like appointments or even be used as a wallet for cash and a handy place for lists.
❤ Easier to let go
What do I mean by letting go? Not to be dramatic but isn’t it easier to let go of one piece of paper rather than a whole notebook which costs more and is often a lot harder to put together. No matter what our preference and needs are currently over time what you may find essential in your planner today may not be true in a few months when, for example, your college course starts. Therefore It’s so easy to change up a ringed planner without breaking the bank and holding much more information if your creative with the inserts you use.
I could really go on and on about this but what I would love more is if you took the chance to comment below and let me know what YOU think? Are your views to planning the same as mine? Or completely opposite? Is there something I missed? I want to know what you think and I definitely will be sharing your views in a future post.
Thank you so much for reading and hope you have a wonderful day!
