Planner Talk - Does SIZE really matter?

Planner Talk - Does SIZE really matter?

After over 5 years in the Planner Community, I still get that giddy excitement to try out new planner sizes—it's like a never-ending paper party!

✨ My Personal Journey ✨

My very first planner was a Personal-sized Filofax Domino—so cute! I had a blast swapping out the inserts every other day (hello, planner makeover!), but the narrow writing space got a bit too fiddly for me. It was fun while it lasted, though.

Next up on my planner journey were the B6 and Pocket sizes! I used a B6 planner for years—it was such a sweet spot. Not as bulky as an A5, but still roomy enough to plan comfortably. It felt just right and was super easy to stick with.

I really enjoyed using a Pocket Ringed planner as the small space allowed me to not over do it and be more realistic with my goals. My only gripe was having to print and cut the inserts so frequently and so tried the Hobonichi Weeks Planner next.

The Hobonichi Weeks was fun and easy to use and the slim size of the paper reminded me of my Personal Ringed planner but in notebook form.

For years, I was happily nestled in my planner groove—using the B6 size alongside my trusty Hobonichi Weeks! I stayed super consistent, all while sprinkling in creativity and having so much fun with it!

I recently upgraded to an A5 size planner because—to be honest—life’s way busier now that my family’s growing! I just needed that extra space to keep things in order. But I still keep my trusty Pocket planner by my side for quick to-do lists and tracking—it’s the perfect little sidekick!

So just thinking about the size of the planner, in my personal opinion, I think it definitely does matter. Sometimes larger planners can feel overwhelming to fill in each day and you abandon it. Conversely if the planner is too small and you're trying to cram everything in that could get overwhelming too.

Finding a perfect balance is key, so I would always suggest thinking about what it is you would like to keep track of. Do you need something small and compact that you can always keep with you? Or maybe you need a large at home planner to keep on top of your family's busy schedule?

I’d love to hear all about your planner size journey—spill the tea in the comments below! ☕📓✨

Are you still looking for the perfect 'one'? Or have you found your 'ride or die' size that just works perfectly for your needs right now?

Thanks for stopping by! Wishing you sparkly stickers, smooth pen ink, and happy planning!
